An extra set of eyes will soon be keeping watch over the Jefferson Parish neighborhoods. A local waste services company has partnered with police to help make the communities it serves safer.
It’s all part of a new crime prevention program lead by the men and women who pick up your garbage.
Soon crews riding through Jefferson Parish neighborhoods for trash removal will also be looking for signs of trouble.
They will use radio dispatch systems to report suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Department. More than one-hundred workers are being trained. The program begins later this month.
