Tulsa is the second-largest city in the state of Oklahoma and 47th-largest city in the United States, with an estimated population of 389,625.

In December 2007 a devastating ice storm destroyed or heavily damaged Tulsa’s beautiful tree canopy.

Re-Green Tulsa is a program developed to replace trees in the hope of re-developing this part of the environment.

The goal of the program is to Plant 20,000 trees by December 2010 on both private property and public sites. Program efforts will focus on the two areas most devastated by the storm, neighborhoods and parks, and will include educational efforts encompassing how to plant trees so that they thrive in Tulsa soils and how to care for them so that they can survive Tulsa’s challenging climate.

“Up With Trees” planted 2,200 Re-Green Tulsa trees in 2009, mostly at schools, at parks and in neighborhoods.

This year, year-end donations to “Up With Trees” will be applied to the “Re-Green Tulsa” campaign. Thanks to this initiative, the Tulsa Community Foundation has generously provided a matching grant, so every dollar you give will be doubled. Your contribution will enable UWT to continue to plant, preserve and promote our urban forest.

Winter 2009/2010 Plantings Are Now Being Scheduled with Up With Trees. Call 610-8733 for more information.

The following plantings have been scheduled for the coming weeks in Tulsa Parks and Neighborhoods.  Take a look at the schedule here: www.cityoftulsa.org/environmental-programs/regreen-tulsa/regreen-home.aspx
