Summer Redneck Games
When : 10 July 2010
Where: Buckeye Park, East Dublin, GEORGIA
$5 entry fee , games start at midday!

The Redneck Games first appeared in 1996. The folk of East Dublin have warmly embraced their “traditional” cultural heritage and flocked to the tongue-in-cheek event at Buckeye Park in droves ever since. One of the main events is the Dumpster Dive, where contestants dive into a garbage-packed dumpster and try to find a holiday prize paper! (see our previous blog on “Dumpster Diving” for tips!).

Perhaps the most eye-catching event of the games is the Mud-Pit Belly Flop, where fully clothed contestants plunge belly first into a natural pool of red clay mud. The bigger the belly, the better your chance, as the winning flopper tends to weigh in at over 250 pounds and key criteria for the judges are beauty of form and size of splash.

Others include: Armpit Serenade (Children normally win this event, as smooth-skinned pits tend to give off a truer “wind” sound) Hubcap Hurl (self explanatory) and the stomach-churning Bobbing for Pig’s Feet. Similar to the kiddies’ Halloween favourite, this involves seven slowly defrosting raw pig’s trotters and a shoulder-deep bobbing bucket. Reassuringly resting in water rather than pigs’ blood, one crucial difference is that, unlike apples, pigs’ feet don’t float.

Take a look at their website – www.summerredneckgames.com hilarious!

Happy Easter USA!!!

March 31st, 2010 by The bookadumpster.com USA Dumpster Rental Team

Friday the 2nd of April is Good Friday, this day commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by Pontius Pilate, believed to have taken place on April 1st AD33.

To avoid direct reference to Christianity, Good Friday is sometimes referred to as Spring Holiday. Most financial markets and some other businesses close on Good Friday (which is a state holiday in many states). Spring Sunday is also referred to as Easter Sunday. The Christians believe that on this day the resurrection of Jesus occurred.

For Christians, Easter is a day of religious services and the gathering of family. Many Americans follow the traditions of hard boiled eggs and giving children baskets of candy.
On the next day, Easter Monday, the President of the United States holds an annual Easter egg roll on the White House lawn for young children. The holiday is also often celebrated as a nonsectarian spring holiday and not generally observed by most businesses as it always falls on a Sunday. Roman Catholic and Protestant groups celebrate Easter on a different Sunday (most years) than Orthodox groups.

Here are some ideas found on the Internet about Easter customs and traditions in USA, what do you think?

  • It was in the early 1700’s, when for the first time, eggs were dyed and the credit for starting this practice in America can be attributed to Pennsylvania Dutch (German) settlers.
  • As a part of Easter traditions in the US, sunrise services are held and the prime motive is to include various Christian religious groups in this event.
  • Painting the Easter eggs and then conducting Easter egg hunt games for the kids is what most American parents do on the Easter week.
  • In the New Orleans, it is a trend of conducting an annual Easter carnival called ‘Mardi Gras’, which features lot of fun activities like parade, jazz music bands and a bumper party.
  • A must play Easter game for American kids is Easter egg roll
  • A special dish for Easter springtime in USA is baked ham, potatoes and vegetables. Another most demanding recipe is hot cross buns
  • Easter break is a great time to book a dumpster for around the house clean up, enter your zip code and follow the prompts to outline your request, bookadumpster will present you with the best price available matching your needs.

But before you get to Easter Break …. make sure you survive 1st April, April Fool’s Day!
